"Aesthetic transfiguration!" Our AGM & book launch of Ray Walker's book on the sets and scenery from the original D'Oyly Carte.

"Here's a how-de-do!"   HMS Petticoat - a production written and produced by Vic Goulding with friends, using Sullivan's music and lots of Gilbert's words.

‘Things are seldom what they seem’  A presentation from Mike Woodward, Artistic Director of Opera Anywhere, on interesting venues and stories from their G&S productions which have been held, just about anywhere. To include slides with some music.

Seasonal Gathering
Some G&S seasonal fun with a film show of SavoyNet clips over the Festival years from Stuart Box our annual diabolical quiz with John Tritton, light refreshments and a short magic show from resident magician, Michael Symes.

‘Gilbert & Sullivan, Together and Apart’     

A concert of G&S plus some Sullivan rarities by Leon Berger, Russell Painter (Tenor), Ellie Jane Morgan (Soprano), Sylvia Clarke (Contralto) with Tim Smith at the piano.

'Oh Joy oh Rapture'
We are delighted to welcome Frances McCafferty  to our G&S Society meeting on  Sunday 4th March starting at 2.30.  The meeting is  going ahead despite the weather  and Frances will be giving us  a special programme  which draws on G&S and other musical items looking at ladies who are suffering from or tortured by betrayal, love, ambition, loss or error of judgement. 

Note that this event takes place on a Sunday Afternoon

Mike Leigh OBE - G&S Interests and Activities

Mike is a writer and director of film and theatre. His well-known films include the comedy-dramas Life is Sweet (1990) and Career Girls (1997) and the Gilbert and Sullivan biographical film Topsy-Turvy (1999). In 2015 he accepted an offer from English National Opera to direct the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta The Pirates of Penzance 

Mile will be talking about his Gilbert and Sullivan interests and activities.

To celebrate International G&S Day we are having a Sorcerer cream tea and scratch performance at Barataria( North Kent)

A Classical Encounters concert with Sally-Ann Shepherdson, Trevor Alexander (Baritone), David Menezes (Tenor) & Pauline Birchall (Mezzo)

A concert of G&S and other operettas accompanies by Peter Crockford.
