Scottish-born Linda Anne, appeared in her first Gilbert and Sullivan soprano roles at Gordonstoun School before studying at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama. From being a finalist in the 1969 Ferrier Competition she was invited to audition for the D’Oyly Carte.  After a year in the chorus she became a principal soprano playing the Plaintiff, Josephine, Patience, Phyllis, Elsie, Gianetta and Constance in the Company’s revival of The Sorcerer in 1972.  After leaving the D’Oyly Carte she pursued a freelance concert and operatic career.

Linda Anne is now on the vocal staff of Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having previously taught at what is now The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the London Royal Academy of Music.  She also has an NHS contract, being part of a specialist Voice Clinic team and runs her own rehabilitation clinics in hospital. She is co-author of ‘If in Doubt, Breathe Out!, a book on breathing and support for singers.  She has served as President of the British Voice Association.

Tony Joseph made her the subject for his book ‘Enchantment, surely’, the only one in his series of D’Oyly Carte Personalities that was a living subject.
